The Daily Double Part 4
This is yet another odd development. Kitty appears to have changed into an entirely different outfit, and she is suddenly up in the grandstands surveying the track. While doing this she spots an old family friend, Jagdish "Jigs" Nehru, the Indian prime minister's jet-setting brother, and goes downstairs to meet him. Let's see what happens...
Jigs: "Kitty, my dear, this is such a pleasant surprise! I did not expect to see you here today. I thought you were still in Mexico City."

Kitty: "It's always a pleasure to see you, pet. I am back early. My, er, business negotiations in Mexico went more smoothly than I thought they would; I barely had to twist anyone's arm to make my point."

Jigs: "And where is your uncle Maurice? I have not seen him today, but your father told him he must be at the Belmont Stakes to represent the du Mont family."

Kitty: "Oh, poor dear Uncle Maurice! He sends his regards, but I'm afraid he came down with one of his "stomach aches" this morning. Well, you know he went to that Joey Bishop roast at the Friar's Club last night....Of course, Uncle Maurice felt absolutely awful about letting Daddy down, and he was all set to beg Aunt Alva to come here when I happened to call. He says I saved his life! I suppose so...can you imagine old Aunt Alva at the races? I love her to death, but I can't understand why she despises gambling when she's such a genius at playing the stock market. She would have made Uncle pay dearly for that favor!"

Jigs: "Poor Maurice, indeed! Well, Kitty, with you here I shall not miss my friend so much. You have truly saved the day!"

Well, that is obviously the real Kitty with Jigs, and she could not possibly have gotten there from the stables so quickly and changed clothes. So it is clear that there are two Kittys at the Belmont Stakes! But that only solves part of the mystery. We know why the real Kitty is here, but what is the impostor trying to do?
