The Flavor of Far-Off Lands (continued)

"Ooh, turnip cake!"
Exotic foods bring back fond memories of faraway assignments for Kitty and her colleagues. Living overseas so much of the time, Kitty has grown accustomed to off-beat treats from the other side of the world. Korean turnip cake is her favorite snack.
Kitty also loves the very much acquired taste
of bitter melon--a vegetable that only the most accomplished cook can render palatable.
Foodmart International thoughtfully accommodates the tastes and customs of U.N. member nations. At the request of the Chinese delegates, the store features tanks full of live fish like the grotesque "Bighead" that Kitty observes. Luckily, customers are not required to kill the fish themselves, though it is optional!

A tranquil "blue sky" ceiling lends the atmosphere of an open-air mercado to the Latin American produce department.

As romantic as all this may be, keeping these culinary memories alive is a cold, hard, practical matter as well. At the drop of a hat, Kitty may again find herself in a situation where her flawless impersonation of a simple Oriental housewife or a fiery Mexican street vendor is of vital importance to a mission.
